LISTEN: Florida Strawberry Festival Opens in Plant City

PLANT CITY -- The Florida Strawberry Festival opens Thursday in Plant City. It's the largest fair in the state by attendance, bigger than the Florida State Fair, the South Florida Fair or the Miami-Dade County Fair. Last year it drew more than 540,000 people. Festival president Kyle Robinson says the huge event has stayed close to its small-town roots, with a range of musical acts and strawberry-themed fair food. Robinson says some concessions and volunteers have worked the event for decades. This year performers are as diverse as Willie Nelson and Ludacris, with Country, R&B and Christian acts well-represented.
